Hudson, November 11th 2018 - Legion Branch 115, Hudson held their annual Remembrance parade and ceremonies on November 11th this year.

Two new plaques were unveiled prior to the regular ceremonies. These two plaques honour 24 men from Vaudreuil-Soulanges Counties who were killed in World Wars I & II.

The Hudson cenotaph is the only one in all Vaudreuil-Soulanges. About 600 people took part in the ceremonies following the largest ever Remembrance Day parade lead by the Black Watch cadets, which included the 867 Air Cadet Squadron from Vaudreuil-Dorion and the #3 Army Cadets Corps, Bourget College from Rigaud.

Wreaths were laid by:

  • M.P. Peter Schiefke (Vaudreuil-Soulanges),
  • Local M.N.A.s Marie-Claude Nichols of Vaudreuil and Marilyne Picard of Soulanges,
  • As well as the Mayors of Hudson, Vaudreuil-Dorion, Rigaud & St. Lazare.

Many veterans were present including one RCNVR Veteran Harry Trenholme who had landed at D-Day, June 6th, 1944. He laid a wreath as well.

During the dinner on September 28th our dear Dorothy (aka Doris) Blaise was presented with a lovely bouquet of roses by Past President Eric Connor.
The reason was that Dorothy will be celebrating her 100th birthday in the next few days. The whole crowd gave her a rousing standing ovation and sang and clapped.
Her beautiful & large birthday cake was made by Liz Rozon and served to all those in attendance.
Dorothy was also in her regular spot playing her button accordion and her signature tune "ROLL OUT THE BARRELL" and accompanying Uncle Phil & Mack all evening.
The photos show two lovely ladies and longtime members of our Legion.
Doris Blaise and Maxine Bredt who also celebrated her 99th Birthday on September 21st. past
Congratulations to both of you and many more Happy Years to come!

Monday Hardy Rock Golf at Como Club.

Bob Fournier relates a very successful Hardy Rock Summer Golf season:

Monday Hardy Rock Golf at Como Club

It all began 4 years ago thanks to Karl Boulé for introducing this competition. I took over from Karl in 2016 and we have had great time with fun competition.

The format consists of 3 competitions of 5 weeks each and members pay $20 for each competition. We form teams (usually 7 teams) and keep individual handicap. Each team has a Captain and teams are 5 to 6 players each. Every week the players play in a foursome and the results of each player are carried forward to his team. Points are awarded each week (7 for first, 1 for last) and top 3 teams after 5 weeks win money prizes.

The last day of the season usually late August, we have a 18 holes Vegas format with a lunch at the Como Club included. This works out very well as all level of players can participate. A steak lunch held at the Legion using the left over money is done in September combine with a Horseshoe Tournament for those interested. This has been successful, thanks to the support from all captains and participants. We plan to have it again next season, just lookout for the email invitation.
