June 9, 2019 - Every June 6 or closest Sunday Legion members place 170 National Flags on all Veterans grave at all Hemmingford Area Cemeteries.
This year we were fortunate to have two soldiers from the Royal Canadian Hussars (Montreal) assisting in placing flags at each Veterans grave.
Each Veteran was given a smart salute by the soldiers.
There are several Regimental Veterans buried here.

May 8th, 2019 - Every year on May 8, Branch 244 of Hemmingford performs a VE Day Ceremony (Victory in Europe) which took place on May 8, 1945.
A memorial service to honour the 45,000 Canadian Soldiers killed during World War II and the end of the War.
All students from both école Saint Romain and Hemmingford Elementary School participated in the ceremony.
Taking advantage of all students being present, about 175, following the ceremony Provincial level of the Legion Poster, Poem and Essay contest sponsored by Branch 244 of Hemmingford were announced and the winners were presented with a cash prize.
At the end of the program all students were treated for lunch at the Legion Hall with Hot Dogs and soft drinks.
April 19, 2019 - At our Annual General Meeting and Election night held at Branch 244 of Hemmingford, President Comrade Karl Kramell presented Lauren Hill with a bursary check from Provincial Command along with a check from the Branch in the equal amount.
April 19, 2019 - The officiating officer for the election, comrade Eugene Montour presided the ceremony of installation of Branch Officers and Executive Committee members.
Comrade Johanne Dauphinais has been elected as the new president of Branch 244, replacing the outgoing President comrade Karl Kramell.

August 11th, 2018 - Branch 244, Hemmingford held a ceremony to observe Peacekeeping Day and to honour the service and sacrifice involved in United Nation Peacekeeping Missions around the World.
August the 9th was chosen because on that date in 1974 the greatest single loss of Canadian lives on a peacekeeping mission occurred.
Nine Canadian Peacekeepers serving with the United Nation Emergency in Egypt and Israel were flying in a Canadian Forces Buffalo transport aircraft on UN Service which was shot down by Syrian air defense missile while preparing to land at Damascus, Syria on a regular resupply mission.
There were no survivors.
June 16, 2017 - At a General Meeting held at Branch 244 Hemmingford, the President, comrade Robert Brown presented Avery Hill with a bursary cheque from Quebec Provincial Command along with a Cheque from the Branch.
Also taking part in the presentation with Avery, was her Grandfather, comrade Gordon Hill, life member of Branch 244 Hemmingford.
Avery is continuing her Education at John Abbott in Montreal.
