Canada Day – Branch 086

On July1, Victoriaville Branch 086 held a ceremony to raise the Canadian flag. As this was also Newfoundland’s celebration of the repatriation of the Unknown Soldier, we took the opportunity to inform those present about what had happened to their regiment during the First World War, at the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel. Our MPs and the mayor were quick to join us, pointing out that there are fewer and fewer Canada Day activities, and how important it is for the Branch to keep this ritual alive. We also took the opportunity to present donations to two cadet corps, and to strengthen our ties with Navire Radisson’s Commanding Officer. A wonderful day for all.
