Lilly-Ann Champagne, a young self-taught painter, has already created several paintings for the veterans of Maison Paul-Triquet, to salute their courage and support their well-being. The young woman, who is finishing high school, was invited to exhibit some of her work on September 2, at a meeting of the members of Filiale 265. The event has been organized for several years by retired Korean War veteran Jean-René Décary. The event consists of a corn roast and hot dog tasting. All proceeds from the day were donated to the Branch’s J. Charles-Forbes RMWO Fund. Quebec veteran Charles Forbes, a native of Matane, earned national hero status in the Netherlands after taking an active part in the liberation of that country in 1944. He is also honorary lieutenant-colonel of Filiale 265. For her part, the young painter says she was inspired by her grandmother Lisette Naud for many of her watercolor and charcoal works. She admits to having been touched by the reaction of the people who have enjoyed her paintings. She is proud of her family and appreciates the support of her parents.
